Dungeons And Dragons: 10 Best Subclasses You Need To Play!
6. Bard - College Of Lore
Some of these choices are certainly subclasses that deserve another look. Some, like the Lore Bard, are just too good to pass up. Some specific abilities allow you to design a character a certain way. With the Lore Bard, your magic can become anything you wish.
At level 3, the Lore Bard gains the ability to inverse the traditional Bardic Inspiration ability with Cutting Words, an ability that allows you to insult an enemy to the point that you can turn a hit on yourself or an ally into a miss.
This would be good enough, but the real gem is the Bard’s Magical Secrets. Now all Bard’s get this ability at 10th, 14th, and 18th level, but the Lore Bard gains an additional usage as early as level 6.
With Magical Secrets, the bard can draw upon spells from any other class’s spell list. This allows you to plug in the gaps your party may have. You can pick up a wizard’s fireball for increased damage, a Cleric’s Beacon of Hope to maximize healing, or the Druid’s Conjure Elemental for additional support.
Beyond that, the Lore Bard gains the ability to inspire themselves on ability checks. When you take all of these into account, you can make your bard the ultimate in party support, and be whomever you wish to be.
