Dungeons And Dragons: Ranking Every Official 5e Module Worst To Best

9. Dragon Of Icespire Peak

Rise Of Tiamat
Wizards Of The Coast

This is a module that is included in the Dungeons and Dragons Essential Kit. This adventure works as a set of loosely connected quests. These missions eventually lead to a final confrontation with the titular Dragon of Icespire Peak. The adventurers are supplied with quests through job boards, rumours in the Inn, or overheard from NPCs. This whole adventure is built as a first-time introduction for players. This means it likes to play on the stereotypes of quest givers.

Many of the game’s rules such as status effects, ability checks, and combat are taught to the player steadily as they progress through the adventure. It also has a number of beginner-friendly rules that have been added with the module. One of these is the ability to have followers. In the box, there are a number of cards that give a portrait of each follower and tells you about them. This can be useful for first-time players or small parties.

Some experienced DM and players may be confused by the levelling system, it is done by milestones. When certain quests are completed, they award the players levels. These are found on the job board in town. This can confuse certain players who are used to being awarded XP by slaying monsters or passing ability checks.

While Dragon of Icespire Peak does have a few issues, it is a great way to introduce new players to the world of Dungeons and Dragons. It includes everything you will need to play in one box. This little collection is a great place to start your collection.
