E3: 10 Most Hilarious Moments From Past Conferences

5. Giant Enemy Crab (2006)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g1fr5vk72M Who says games can't be educational as well as entertaining? We've looked at Sony's 2006 E3 Conference already (Riiiiidge Racer!) but we haven't yet explored its finest moment. The conference was mainly focused on building hype for the company's new console at the time: the PlayStation 3. One particular announcement drew more attention than any other game unveiled that year, simply due to the ridiculous nature of how it was presented. Genji: Days of the Blade is a Japanese action game featuring (in the developer's own words) "famous battles which actually took place in ancient Japan". Exciting, right? Not only does Genji allow you to be a kickass samurai, it also allows you to learn about the history of Japan - showcasing wars between various samurai clans and giant enemy crabs. Wait, what? Moments after proclaiming Genji as a game rooted in historical events, the on-stage tester proceeded to get into a boss battle against a giant enemy crab. The world must have skipped the history class about the army of giant enemy crabs which had enslaved the world in the 12th Century, but it got better; in order to defeat the giant enemy crab, the player has to flip the crab over and attack his weak spot "for massive damage". Say what you want about the Japanese; without them, we'd still be under the control of the giant enemy crab overlords. Thank you Japan and your powers of massive damage.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
