4. IndieCade
As someone who spends his time commenting on the pop-culture, I often have to get wrapped up in the big blockbusters and AAA games in order to try and realise trends in today's tastes. This is very true of games as well and you can spend much of your time trying to get through all the hot new releases from the big publishers to keep up with the culture. However, it is just as important to keep an eye what is going on outside of the main stream. Knowing the trends of an independent market helps you see new ideas and innovations at their inception, showcasing the real art of the medium. That is why I am very much looking forward to spending some time in the IndieCade booth during my time in LA. The IndieCade has been at E3 for the past seven years, showcasing previous hits like Braid and Cloud before they ever went big. The booth is a great place to go and find the gems that are going to become massive over the next year. The community have been embracing the indie scene in growing numbers year by year, and some fo my favorite games this year have been smaller games, like Reus and I am very much looking forward to The Swapper. The IndieCade looks to have a bunch of really interesting games on show this year across several platforms. I am going to try and get my hands on as much as possible and let you know what is going to be worth your time. Expect me to be dropping in and out of the IndieCade to try and cover as much as humanly possible.
