As an independent studio, Platinums games have suffered from near non-existent advertisement, poor sales, and a somewhat deserved reputation for poorly explained gameplay mechanics. While most people know about Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and perhaps Bayonetta, the rest of their catalog like Vanquish and Anarchy Reigns toil in cult obscurity. While Platinum making an Xbox One exclusive was hinted at by "ntkrnl", no one really knew what it was about. The fact that the game revolves around monster and dragon hunting does make it a bit generic, given its company in fantasy games at this years E3, but Platinums true strength is in gameplay, which hasnt been shown off yet. Even so, the Scalebound reveal is exciting for a few reasons. First, its a sign that Microsoft is willing to get top notch game developers to create exclusive content. Second, any new Platinum game is worth playing, given their emphasis on great gameplay. Third, its an opportunity for a struggling developer to finally get their due from mainstream gamers and enjoy the success theyve long since earned.
