E3 2016: 10 Major Legend Of Zelda Rumours You Must Know
2. Voice-Acting for NPC's
Yes, the CD-I games are likely a little too fresh in many fans' minds to even consider voice acting for a Zelda game. However, those were games in which the actual LoZ developers were hardly involved, and the project was extremely low-budget. LOZ for Wii-U could actually pull this off, and there are ways in which voice acting could legitimately be implemented without taking away from the overall experience.
The fact that there has been a significant amount of 'Western influence' added into the game implies some gameplay mechanics similar to Western RPG's. For the voice acting aspects, Zelda for Wii-U will likely take pointers from the Dark Souls franchise, where the NPC's sprinkled throughout the world DO speak, and provide additional personality that text wouldn't be able to express.
Likeliness of being true: 5/10.
It may prove to be a game concept that is also deemed unnecessary, with Nintendo feeling that the text-based dialogue is perfectly sufficient. Also, if done improperly, it could prove to be a risk that hurts the game both critically and financially. However, considering that this is supposed to be a considerable step forward for the franchise, the time is now to either implement voice acting, or scrap the idea altogether.
