E3 2016: 10 Outrageous Rumours We Hope Come True
1. Norman Reedus As Kojima's New Mascot
The split between Hideo Kojima and Konami was well-documented and ugly. One of the most upsetting casualties among this rift was the cancellation of Silent Hills, a new game in the popular horror franchise that was due to be co-directed by Guillermo Del Toro and starring The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus.
Kojima has fortunately landed on his feet, of course, and Kojima Productions now lives on as an independent entity under the guidance of Sony. Kojima productions have been teasing new work with logos and mascots for the last couple of months, but pulling major or meaningful news out of any of these has been difficult work indeed.
One big rumour that's still circling the images of Kojima's impressively-suited new mascot is the suggestion that Reedus' partnership with the developer is not over, and that he is the one under that mask. This doesn't lead us towards anything substantial about the game itself, but how cool would it be for the exciting team of Silent Hills to rise from the ashes of Kojima and Konami's split?
The early footage of Reedus in Silent Hills was so well-received; discovering that gamers have not actually been robbed of the fruit of that labour would be wonderful news.
