E3 2016: 10 Returning Video Game Franchises You Woudn't See Coming
10. Power Stone
Power Stone is the much lesser known cousin of Super Smash Bros. for the Sega Dreamcast. While not even remotely close to the insane success of Nintendos fighting franchise, Power Stone is considered a gem by those who were lucky enough to play it during the Dreamcasts brief lifespan. It managed to spawn a sequel, but never took off beyond that.
Any fan will tell you that this is a travesty beyond all measure. With its fast paced arcade style fighting and large open stages, Power Stone was a game that made the Dreamcast worth having just so you could play it with a group of friends. There are few fighting games quite like it, so a comeback after all these years would be a welcome one within the genre, provided Capcom remained true to the gameplay of the originals.
Another Power Stone is just what the beat 'em-up genre needs right now, especially with Super Smash Bros. reigning supreme unchallenged. It could use a little competition. There are more gamers out there than you think that would love to see this forgotten franchise come back. Its announcement would generate major headlines, especially because of its cult status and the amount of time it has remained dormant. Power Stone is an underdog, and people love seeing an underdog challenge the champ.
