E3 2016: 10 Things We Learned From Titanfall 2's Single Player Trailer

2. Cooper Will Be Fighting For MCOR

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not really well versed in Titanfall lore, so these terms and names are fairly meaningless to me (and again, slightly derivative of Sci-Fi flicks gone by), but so far we can identify at least two factions in this sequel - the IMC and MCOR.

The IMC are the big bads of the Titanfall mythos, personifying the extreme elements of faceless corporations in their quest to safeguard humanity's resources, no matter what the cost. MCOR on the other hand are the freedom fighters of planets long since colonised decades ago, now facing persecution at the hands of the IMC who are hellbent on taking back control using every means at their disposal.

It's clear to see who the good guys and the bad guys are in this scenario, and if you're drawing parallels between this and historical events gone by, then you're right to do so. It's obviously inspired by old conflicts, but is rooted firmly in a fantastical Sci-Fi setting.

The odds are very clearly stacked against your favour, with the beginning of the trailer having already set the tone for the impending might of the IMC's forces. Tonally at least, this is shaping up to be a very serious tale. Character driven at its core, but still propelled by external elements that we're bound to see unresolved until that inevitable threequel hits sometime in the future.
