E3 2016: 9 Ups & 5 Downs From Sony's Conference

3. That Insane Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare Mission

Despite Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare suffering immense flak for its radical space warfare angle, which hardcore fans have deemed too different from the usual, Activision smartly doubled down on the weirdness, well aware that most are going to still buy it regardless.

Though the space theme might seem a tad desperate or extreme for the series, the gameplay shown off during Sony's conference was surprisingly awesome.

The mission in question saw the player fly a spaceship out into the middle of a space battle, eject onto an enemy Destroyer, use a number of special abilities (such as a scorpion-like grappling hook, a portable shield and an anti-gravity grenade), complete the mission, and then evacuate mere moments before the Destroyer is blown to pieces.

It won't be for everyone, but it sure looked more imaginative and intense than the series has been in years. Plus, we can all cross our fingers for online space battles, right?
