E3 2018: 10 Most Believable Rumours (That Won't Happen)

9. No Release Date For Final Fantasy VII's First Episode

Though the announcement that fan-favourite Final Fantasy VII was going to be remade blew the roof off Sony's conference three years ago, the game has seemingly only hit one roadblock after another ever since. First was the announcement that the developers in charge didn't even know they were working on the game until their names popped up on screen, and then came details that it would be an episodic release, and might not be finished until 2023.

This is all amongst rumours from earlier this year that the entire development had shifted focus and been internally rebooted, indicating even more trouble brewing for those working on the project. Consequently, it's anyone's guess as to what the state of the remake is at this point, and it's going to take one hell of a blowout to regain the confidence fans used to have.

With all of these issues in mind, there's a good chance the game will make an appearance at E3, but the likelihood of there being a release date for the first episode - if it's even still being released episodically - is slim.
