E3 2018: 10 Most Believable Rumours (That Won't Happen)

7. EA Won't Show Off Any Star Wars Games

Although EA have taken a beating for a lot of things over the years, by far the biggest one at the moment is how they've handled their exclusive access to the Star Wars licence.

Attempting to immediately capitalise on acquiring the franchise, the publisher pushed out two Star Wars Battlefront games, both of which received huge amounts of backlash because of the quality of the titles themselves, as well as the money-grubbing business practices EA forced into them.

While that was bad, the nail in the coffin came with the announcement that not only was their upcoming story-driven Star Wars title - developed by Visceral Games and spearheaded by Uncharted's Amy Hennig - being reworked into a "games as service" open world experience, but the developers were being closed down entirely.

Consequently, EA have decided to back off Star Wars a little bit, announcing that it would be a while before the next Battlefront is officially unveiled, but explaining that Respawn's as-of-yet unknown entry in the universe was coming along well.

Ultimately, it's unlikely we'll see any games in the franchise shown off at E3, as EA continues to figure out just what the hell they want to do with it.
