5. Syphon Filter Won't Be The Next Big Remake

Although Sony like to announce brand new games at their conferences, they've made a killing in recent years by banking on nostalgia. Remastering the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy for modern consoles was a winner, and they quickly followed that up by announcing a new version of Spyro the Dragon and Medieval.

Of course this is all alongside remasters of iconic Playstation titles like Shadow of the Colossus and the Uncharted trilogy, both of which were crafted by Bluepoint Games. That studio has confirmed that they're working on yet another remake of an older, iconic series from Sony's back catalogue, with rumours pointing towards Syphon Filter.

However, despite how fondly remembered those early Syphon Filter games were, it's probably not at the top of the pile when it comes to reimagining old IP. Sure, the games are beloved by some, but they lack the immediate dose of nostalgia brought on by the likes of Crash and Spyro, and don't quite fit the "instant classics" category that Bluepoint usually stick to.

It would be great to see the series again, but it's more likely to be in the form of a brand new sequel/reboot than a remake.
