E3 2018: 13 Biggest WTF Moments
3. EA Eats Some Humble Pie
Wow, EA sure had a heck of a year, huh? It was an up-and-down rollercoaster filled with loot boxes, axed studios and legal investigation.
With an utterly misguided mess of a show last year, EA attempted to redeem themselves with a more low-key games focused conference. Still, they couldn't hide their blatant embarrassment about the tense atmosphere at some points, leading to some very awkward moments.
None of the bad air was more apparent than when a poor developer had to walk on stage and timidly promote DLC for Star Wars: Battlefront 2.
Talk about feeding someone to the wolves; the mild-mannered fellow looked like he was about to crawl into a fetal position throughout, with a hundred eye-daggers pointed at him at all at once and from all across the globe. It ended with him even blatantly apologised for the ‘rough start’ of this entire ugly debacle.
Quite hilariously as well, every multiplayer game that was showcased at the conference came with a quick ‘no loot boxes’ disclaimer by the developers, as if it had evolved into some new found stamp of quality.
EA has officially bowed their head in shame. How long do you think they're going keep it up?
