E3 2018: 13 Biggest WTF Moments
1. Respawn's Awkward Star Wars Reveal
EA was attempting to regain as much goodwill as they could, with the little they had this year. It was no more apparent than with the clumsy reveal for Respawn’s much-anticipated new Star Wars game.
Obviously, the game is not very far along but EA had pressure to deliver something positive on the Star Wars front after Battlefront 2’s disastrous release, the butchering of Amy Hennig’s single-player game, and the looming threat of Disney snatching the license away from them.
So how did they do this? Maybe with a simple and minor teaser? Some concept imagery? Hell, maybe even just a logo on-screen? No luck, instead they literally had the host sit down in the audience with Respawn head Vince Zampella and had them go through a mock-casual conversation that revealed the title, era-setting and a vague release date - that’s it.
Talk about dropping the ball on a reveal that could've blown on all cylinders of gamer excitement, only if they just put a little bit of effort.
