E3 2018: 5 Ups & 3 Downs From Nintendo's Direct
4. Super Mario Party Exists, Releases October 5
The Switch has been long overdue its own Mario Party, and Nintendo finally delivered with the reveal of Super Mario Party. The brief gameplay trailer emphasised the game's social multiplayer elements, namely how that dynamic changes on the Switch.
In addition to taking full advantage of the Switch's motion controls for some of the mini-games, Super Mario Party even allows players to place two Switches next to one another, with certain mini-games transpiring across both screens, even allowing the player to swipe continually across two Switch screens.
It's pretty damn ingenious use of the Switch, to be honest, and could easily make this the most unique and forward-thinking entry into the series. Fingers crossed it also supports online play for those lonelier nights, but no confirmation yet.
Fans don't have too long to wait, either, as Super Mario Party releases on October 5.
