E3 2018: 6 Ups & 6 Downs From EA's Conference
2. Too Many Sports Segments
Without question the most complained-about aspect of EA's show every year is the obscene amount of time they devote to covering sports titles, which sports fans are going to buy every year regardless of them appearing at E3. These segments are typically in order to appease investors, while doing very little for the majority of mainstream gamers.
Though EA were at least smart enough to spread these segments throughout the show rather than fill out a long, boring block with them, sporting games still had an excessive presence in an already middling conference that wasn't all that interesting.
That's without mentioning the expected devotion to eSports, which was about as cringe-worthy as you'd expect (nothing against eSports as an activity, but it's painfully uninteresting during a conference).
