E3 2018: 8 Insane Predictions Most Likely To Come True
5. Final Fantasy VII & Resident Evil 2 Remake Release Dates
Remakes and remasters, what's the difference?
One describes a from-the-ground-up recreation of a beloved game, while the other is the best excuse publishers have to re-release a successful title with some added bells and whistles and a spit 'n' polish for some extra cash.
That being the case, the former takes considerably longer to see through to completion, explaining the continued absence of the two remakes in question. However, there's more to it than that. Square is slowly making progress with Cloud and co.'s glorious return, but the project appears to be on the backburner until Kingdom Hearts III makes retail. Whether or not its far enough along to receive a concrete launch date remains to be seen, but it's at least in a playable state, so that date must be approaching soon.
Which is more than can be said for Resident Evil 2 Remake. By all accounts, Capcom appears to have altogether forgotten that Leon's return to Raccoon City is a thing, having maintained near-total radio silence on its state since the announcement. Its been three years since that day, plenty of time for Capcom to at least cobble together a series of screenshots to maintain interest.
