E3 2018: 8 Ups & 5 Downs From Sony's Conference

1. Making Daily Announcements Leading Up To The Show

One of the better and more forward-thinking choices Sony made this year was to make five smaller announcements in the five days leading up to their E3 conference.

This was great for several reasons: for starters, it made the agonising wait for E3 to kick off a little less tough, and it also allowed these games to have their own moment rather than get swallowed up amid the bombast of the more significant gameplay reveals.

What were the announcements, you ask? A PSVR Tetris game, Tetris Effect, is on the way from the Rez Infinite devs; Days Gone releases on the increasingly-crowded date of February 22, 2019; Life is Strange devs Dontnod's new game is a psychological thriller called Twin Mirror; Fe developer Zoink's new VR game is Ghost Giant; and Star Wars-themed rhythm game Beat Saber is confirmed for PSVR.

None of these announcements would've blown the roof off the actual E3 show, and though they could've easily slotted into Sony's ultimately low-key conference, it was probably better for the games themselves to have their own delineated time in the spotlight.
