E3 2019: 10 Most Disappointing Video Game No-Shows

8. Metroid Prime Trilogy

At the beginning of 2019, Metroid Prime 4 was cancelled and restarted. In a rather shocking turn, Nintendo announced that it had halted development of the game at an unknown studio, handing the reigns to veteran developer, Retro Studios.

That pushed Metroid Prime 4 back several years, so we're probably looking at a 2021 release date at the earliest. And considering Retro literally just started work on the project a few months ago, we were never going to get a trailer. However, a remastering of the original Metroid Prime trilogy seemed like a shoe-in.

For months we've been hearing rumours about a Prime trilogy appearing on the Switch, which only makes sense because it would allow newcomers to experience Prime for the first time and drum-up hype for the fourth instalment. Surprisingly, no such announcement came at Nintendo's E3 Direct, and we're left wondering where it is.

Well, considering how far away Metroid Prime 4 is, there's no real rush to get the remastered trilogy out the door. That means E3 next year could be the place and time we get the announcement. That or at a random direct sometime in the next twelve months. Surely?
