FromSoftware have only just shipped Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, but that apparently isn’t stopping them from following it up by announcing their next project, apparently titled 'Great Rune'.

Thanks to a leak earlier this month from Gematsu, we know that FromSoft have been working on a game in collaboration with A Song of Ice and Fire author, George R.R. Martin, which he is apparently also the lead writer of. Even more tantalising is that production has already been underway for the past three years, which seemingly indicates that a release - or at the very least, a reveal - is imminent.

The leak also points towards the game being open world and including horse riding, as well as using Norse mythology as a setting. If true, it sounds like the studio’s biggest departure from the regular Souls formula yet.

Likewise, it would make sense if the game was unveiled on Microsoft’s stage. Sekiro’s first gameplay trailer debuted on the Xbox stage to raucous applause, so it would be a no-brainer for the company to get them back to show off their next project - with a huge name collaborator attached no less.
