E3: 9 Biggest Bombshells From Microsoft's Conference

4. Fable Is Back In Good Hands, And Looks A Bit Like Phantasy Star Online

The Fable Legends trailer - despite being the third game shown to hype 'seamless multiplayer' - over-delivered on expectations that really weren't there. Taking a page from Phantasy Star Online, it appears Fable Legends gives you a hub world, a variety of classes and customisation options, and then sends you out on quests for loot, glory, and adventure. The most comforting fact is that Fable's sense of whimsy and silliness are present and accounted for, and the next generation graphics give everything a nice visual pop that adds to the charm immensely. Characters will quip and make various gags as they run into battle, and from the looks of things it seems like a great game to pick up and play without having to spend hours grinding or waiting for queues to load. There's also a mysterious D&D-esque "villain'" component, where you're given the option to lay down the gauntlet for adventurers via a birds-eye view menu that feels a bit like something you'd see in a tower defense game. But most impressive moment of the demo found our heroes tackling a giant ogre wielding a club...made out of another ogre head. After his weak-spot is revealed, he's eventually hit with a spell that freezes him in place, before shatters into a million little ice shards in real time, making for a cool moment and a hopeful preview of the cool graphical touches next gen games allow - getting people who weren't even sure what Fable Legends was a week ago hyped for it to drop sometime in 2015.
