EA Sports UFC Demo: 10 Broken Things EA Must Fix Before Release

3. Fighter Roster

We did a full piece covering the notable absentees from EA Sports UFC after they announced their full roster (available here) but the fact that the demo limits you to only light heavyweight champion Jon Jones or his main contender Swedish Alexander Gustafsson once again brings the issue to the surface. Though the main game thankfully gives you a far broader choice of fighters than the demo, there are several notable fighters who will not be available upon the game€™s initial release. With over 400 of the world€™s best mixed martial artists being signed to the UFC, it was inevitable that some fighters would have to be left out of the game. Indeed, the incredible detail and realism EA have gone into with some of the character models mean it would take an inordinate amount of time and effort to create a virtual version of every fighter. However, there are some omissions from the initial roster of 99-athletes which cannot be overlooked €“ Tyron Woodley, Ali Bagautinov and newly-crowned bantamweight king T.J. Dillashaw are just three of the handful of top-rated fighters inexplicably left out of the game. The fact that these fighters were spurned in favour of the novelty inclusion of Bruce Lee €“ who never fought a round of MMA in his life €“ makes these fighters€™ exclusion all the more astounding. All is not lost though €“ the developers have promised that additional fighters will be made available after the game€™s launch in downloadable packs. Let€™s just hope EA don€™t add insult to injury by charging us additional money to access the UFC€™s 135-lbs champion.
