7. An Overhaul Of The Grappling System

One of the things EA UFC 3 really got close to perfect was the striking mechanics. I mean, sure, it can take a while to get used to the nuances of blocking and evading to land the perfect counterpunch or multi-limb combination, but once you're there it feels phenomenal.

Unfortunately the same can certainly not be said for the in-game grappling system.

Grappling is a huge part of MMA. At the time of writing six of the seven male UFC champions come from grappling backgrounds. So why is it that every mixed martial arts video game has failed to replicate a great wrestling exchange or a submission-ridden scramble?

The answer is that due to the incredibly complex nature of grappling exchanges, no MMA game to this point has been able to accurately replicate them on-screen.

That doesn't mean they can't try though, and EA UFC 4 would really benefit from an overhaul in the current grappling system to make things much more dynamic on the mat.
