Given the huge success of Ultimate Team in the FIFA franchise, it's not exactly surprising that EA has attempted to replicate the format into their MMA games.

But, much like the football version, EA UFC Ultimate Team has come under fire from large sections of the fanbase who say that it is too focused on profits and monetisation, leaving a huge skill barrier that prospective players must pay to catch up with should they want to be competitive.

Unlike FIFAs Ultimate Team the UFC games have unlockable moves as well as athletes meaning that it's not uncommon to find your character with only one decent kick and being left with no choice but to spam it at any opportunity to find success in online bouts.

The fan-led backlash against EAs shady online practices brought about positive changes to the monetisation of Battlefront 2, so we can only hope that the company will once again listen to the game's community and implement positive changes for the series going forward.
