Elden Ring: 17 Tips & Tricks The Game NEVER Told You

10. Remove All Skills From Your Shield

There's absolutely a case to be made for parrying in Elden Ring. A good parry player will make mincemeat of all but the most splash damage-reliant bosses, but if you're just not someone who has it in them to try and prod L2/LT every time an attack is incoming, there is another (better) way.

Simply equip the "No Skill" perk on your shield; literally remove whatever ability is attached to it like "Kick" or "Parry", and now when you hit L2/LT, you'll perform your other hand's weapon's ability instead.

It means having full access to all weapon abilities while still holding your shield for a quick defence. Anything from ranged magic beams to acrobatic flip-attacks are better combos with your shield than a parry that will likely get you killed, at least in my opinion.
