Elder Scrolls: 10 Best Oblivion Quests
1. The Purification
There must be something in the Dark Brotherhood's terms and conditions that says they have to culminate all of their questlines in the most heartbreaking and tragic ways possible.
The Purification begins when Lucien Lachance summons the player to Fort Farragut just outside of Cheydinhal and tells them that there is a traitor amongst the Dark Brotherhood that needs to be purged. Because they're unable to tell who the specific member is, the only option the Brotherhood has is to eliminate every single member of the Cheydinhal sanctuary.
Lucien will give players a special poisoned apple and a unique scroll to summon the ghost of Rufio, the man they first killed to join the guild, but neither of those things will help with the weight of the task at hand.
All of the members of the Cheydinhal sanctuary are memorable, likeable and had been with the player throughout their entire time in the Brotherhood. All of them will have a positive disposition towards the player heading into the mission as well, even after the fighting starts to kick off, making the whole ordeal that much more gut-wrenching to deal with.
