Elder Scrolls: 10 Best Oblivion Quests

6. Ritual Of Accession

The Shivering Isles DLC brought the wonderful mind of Sheogorath and his plain of Oblivion to life, revolving around the story of this Daedric God of Madness and the incoming Greymarch (aka. destruction of the entire realm) from the God of Order, Jyggalag. The Shivering Isles is divided into two parts: Mania, the vibrant and colourful side of Sheogorath led by Lord Thadon, and Dementia, the gloomy and dark lands of the Daedric Lord ruled over by Lady Syl.

Ritual of Accession is the seventh quest in the DLC's main storyline and opens with Sheogorath talking to the player and explaining that he actually wants to try and stop Jyggalag this time. In order to muster up the necessary forces and respect to challenge the Greymarch, players are told by Sheogorath that they need to choose either Thadon or Syl and replace them as duke or duchess of their respective regions.

Killing both of these rulers will require a part of them being offered to the Altar of Arden-Sul, and the player can speak to two nearby priests for further information on who they want to choose. Syl is the more simple to kill, but the quest wins most of its points for the sheer amount of freedom offered, the unique means in killing either lord and the replayability that comes from creating two different storylines based on one decision.
