Elder Scrolls 6: 5 Things We Do Want To See (And 5 We Don't)
6. Do: Interesting Factions
Factions within the Elder Scrolls have always been a great source of fun, and the next game must continue that trend.
Previous quest lines such as the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild led to a significant amount of time spent for players. This is something that helps the Elder Scrolls feel like a unique game world, and thus it's important this aspect is further developed.
However, part of what was missing within Skyrim was a lack of conflict within the factions. The Stormcloaks and Imperials led to great moments of decision making. They meant that playing the game through a second time garnered entirely different experiences if you made an alternate choice.
But there is more potential for this throughout all factions in the world. Setting up rivalling guilds, and forcing players to choose where to place their loyalty will make the game feel far more in-depth, be more accurate to life and instantly improve replay value.
Essentially the factions within the game need to be interesting, and exclusive, to bring out quest-lines that feel unique to the playthrough.
