Elder Scrolls VI: 10 Simple Fixes That Would Improve Everything

9. Improve 3rd Person Perspective

The fact that players are given the option to play through Bethesda's adventures in either first or third person is a major plus point, and one that undoubtedly appeases players who may have overlooked the game if they were forced into just one or the other. Traditional RPGs have mostly been played in third person only, so continuing to cater to this generation's Call Of Duty gamer is something Bethesda is smart to do with its two major franchises. Bizarrely, for a game whose genre is so traditionally based in third person perspective, Skyrim's first person mode is actually far more accomplished. Aside from the obvious ease it offers players using ranged attacks such as bows or spells, Skyrim's first person mode just feels far more responsive and fluid to the third person. The fluidity comes from the control system, and so really there is no marked difference between the two perspectives other than the fact that the third person visuals are so rigid and jarring when the action heats up. Much was made of the improvements to the third person view in Skyrim's pre-release packages, and it is true that there has been a step in the right direction when compared to Oblivion. This view does still need a lot of work for the next instalment however, to give the game's third person players just as dazzling an experience as those first-person players are bound to get!
