The Elder Scrolls VI: 10 Things It Must Learn From Fallout 4
7. Make Third-Person Worthwhile & Enjoyable
First or third person? The debates will rage on and on - but for Fallout and Elder Scrolls, Bethesda's reply has always been "Why not both?", although the third-person offerings in their last few games have forever felt more like a mod than an designated way to play. Cut to Fallout 4 though, and right from the first few few seconds of seeing that new walk animation you could tell they've taken the time to implement this mode properly. It'll be a bit different in Elder Scrolls in terms of your general approach to the various situations therein (you most likely won't be taking cover or doing a whole lot of long ranged combat), but if Bethesda take influence from something like The Witcher, perhaps it'd be time to implement a system of parries, counters, spell-switching and dodging to really bring it to life? Naturally, plenty fans will dog-pile on that idea as TES 'should' forever been tailored towards a first-person experience, but being how well done Witcher's combat is - and how much it would enhance the sensation of controlling your character amidst the world - it could be exactly what's needed.
