Every Cancelled Super Mario Game - Ranked
4. Super Mario Strikers Charged 2 / Super Mario Strikers 3
If there is one game series in the world of Nintendo that is both underrated and badly in need of some love, it is Super Mario Strikers.
Also known as Mario Smash Football in some parts of Europe and Australia, Super Mario Strikers was first released for the Gamecube back in 2005 and featured two teams of five battling it out in the most extravagant game of soccer audiences could ever hope for.
The series returned when the Wii came out, bringing out Super Mario Strikers Charged in 2007. Now with improved visuals, four different game modes, smoother animations, and a choice of 12 captains and 8 sidekicks, it was one of the most successful sports games released for the Mario universe.
Despite the well received reception and popularity of the two games, audiences are yet to taste a third Mario Strikers game, with the franchise never making its way to a handheld at the time of writing.
There were talks of a Strikers project amongst Next Level games following the release of Charged, however that was scrapped when the team were moved to the ill-fated Super Mario Spikers.
