Every FromSoftware Soulsborne Game Ranked Worst To Best
6. Demon's Souls
The very first in the Souls formula has a lot of things going for it. The level design is excellent, considering this was the first in the long line of titles; it pioneered a lot of essential mechanics that would become important in many of the later Dark Souls games; and more than anything, it’s just fun to play.
However, when you start to look at it more critically, it falls apart in some sections. The game isn’t as big and developed as other titles; both lore and gameplay don’t run as deep with fewer mechanics and a convoluted story, making for a forgettable experience.
There’s also the matter of the lack of difficulty. If you’re playing the recent PS5 remake of the game (which is undoubtedly the definitive version), be prepared for one of the easiest experiences in the series, with a lack of punishments for reckless actions and easy ways to exploit and cheat the game.
Demon’s Souls started the entire journey for Dark Souls and games like it. However, it’s hard to call it one of the best in the franchise, even with its remade version.
