Every Mainline Resident Evil Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Resident Evil - Code: Veronica

Resident Evil 4 Remake
Capcom/SEGA

Resident Evil - Code: Veronica was released in 2000 and is the first game for the sixth generation of consoles. The title is set after the story of RE2 and follows Claire Redfield in her continuing search for her brother, Chris.

The game is a graphical leap from its predecessors and is the first to have truly 3D rendered backgrounds. This makes for sweeping camera shots while retaining the fixed perspective of the previous games. It also introduces new mechanics such as dual-wielding and first-person modes. Code: Veronica also serves as a breath of fresh air by introducing new locations such as Rockfort Island and Antarctica.

One thing to note about the title, however, is its difficulty with some of the toughest enemies in the series as well as the standard limited resources. Though this may turn casual players off, the increased challenge is considered one of the strengths of the game for RE veterans.

It's a shame then that Code: Veronica is often overlooked as it deserves a remake like Resident Evil 2. And with the recent release of the RE4 Remake, fans are still clinging on hope that this game is next.
