With the release of the Nintendo Wii and its motion-sensing technology, a new avenue for arcade style console games was opened. With the likes of Ghost Squad and House of the Dead making their way to the console, Resident Evil followed close behind in 2007 with The Umbrella Chronicles, a first person fight through all the major moments of the franchise from Resident Evil Zero all the way through to Resident Evil 3.

Playing as all the major characters and with a second player at their side, the game proved to be a ton of fun, selling 1.4 million units on Nintendo's hardware. The game also Albert Wesker the stage to tell its story, weaving previous events together from his conniving perspective.

On top of this, Umbrella Chronicles worked to fill in gaps in the grand conspiracy, with the final campaign seeing Chris, Jill and Wesker assaulting Umbrella's last stronghold in Russia, an operation that would smash the corporation for good.

While its on-rails gameplay may be off-putting to some, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles delivered a thrill ride through a good portion of the franchise, while also going a step further with its story and characters.
