EVERY Resident Evil Game Ranked Worst To Best

13. Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City Nemesis
Capcom

As the highly anticipated follow-up to the legendary Resident Evil 4, the fifth main entry in the series had some enormous shoes to fill.

With a long development cycle and the hype steadily building, it was always going to to be tough to reach that bar and in 2009, the Resident Evil 5 we got was a solid if imperfect title that ended up putting the franchise's horror roots to rest. It's a shame, as the over-the-top story, brilliant visual presentation and fun cooperative gameplay still hold up well today.

Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar's ultimate confrontation with series icon Albert Wesker, for all its bravado, still ranks as a memorable moment in the franchise's history. As a follow-up, 5 also boasts strong enemy design and another thrilling set of weapons to toy with.

However, both of these elements came at a cost; the game simply wasn't scary anymore. While the excellent core gameplay of its predecessor remained intact, what ended up dragging RE5 down slightly was its focus on action and the poor artificial intelligence when playing alone.

Sheva's AI is still embarrassingly bad, constantly wasting ammo and not reacting very well in combat situations. Despite these gripes, Resident Evil 5 still works well enough as a coop title for you and a pal to blast through
