EVERY Resident Evil Game Ranked Worst To Best
21. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D
For the first 3DS entry on our list, we have Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. As a port of a mode that first debuted with Resident Evil 4, this unlockable battle game has achieved a reasonable popularity with the fanbase.
Tasking players to race through arena levels, defeating as many foes as possible before the timer runs out and adding in some flashy melee moves for good measure. Allowing players to take the game on the go, The Mercenaries 3D is a hybrid of content from RE4 and RE5. The game is also notable for being one of the first titles to get Capcom's MT Framework game engine running on a portable system.
Despite the limitations of the handheld, The Mecenaries 3D is a mildly entertaining side-show to the main events, an OK conversion of a popular franchise feature; it simply doesn't do anything beyond that. Once you've unlocked all the modes and characters, there isn't so much left to do with it outside of upping your high score or boosting for more time.
The fact that a demo for Resident Evil Revelations was included speaks volumes of where TM3D sits in the franchise's history. We'll get to that game later...
