Fable 4 Officially Announced: 10 Things To Return The Series To Greatness

4. Keep The Dog (And Give It More To Do)

Fable 4
Lionhead Studios

Arguably what saved Fable 2 and 3 from being complete step-downs from the original is the addition of your trusted dog companion.

The dog is ever by your side, fighting and finding treasure for you. He even makes a heroic sacrifice for you in Fable 2 in a heart-wrenching scene, and the choice at the end of Fable 2 to either bring back your beloved dog or bring back literal thousands of people murdered by the villain is often an easy one in favour of the former.

Keeping the dog is a must, but it would be great if it had a larger involvement in stories and quests rather than just steering you five minutes off track to dig up 500 gold. The dog didn't have much involvement in the actual storyline, just a way of getting you extra loot. It's such a cute, personable addition to the games, but so much more could be done with it.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
