Fallout: 10 Biggest Controversies
6. Mouldy Helmet – Fallout 76
Gaming collector’s items offer fans of a series a chance to spend butt loads of money on exclusive merch, with the promise of interesting and unique products and perhaps, even a surprise or two thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately for anyone unlucky enough to cop one of these helmets, the surprise was well, mould. Dangerous horrible mould.
Sold exclusively by GameStop, who it seems can’t avoid the spotlight for one reason or another, the helmet was described as “Fallout 1:1 Power Armor Nuka Cola Helmet” with a striking red paint job and accompanying Fallout-esque tubing.
A great piece then to add to any vault-heads collection. That is, until the American Consumer Product Safety Commission were forced to step in.
The mould was growing at such an alarming rate, that those who were exposed to it were said to be at risk of respiratory infections, especially those with existing allergies related to mould or other lung problems. Yikes.
Needless to say, this isn’t the only collector’s item faux pax Bethesda are ultimately guilty of.
