Fallout: 10 Reasons New Vegas Is The Best One
5. An Intriguing Story
Sometimes, the most bombastic stories aren't the best. And that is certainly the case with New Vegas. Whilst the story has some theatric moments, the true meat of the tale is in the actual characters and opposing factions. It's not about saving the world or liberating robot slaves. It's a self-contained story about opposing ideologies, spearheaded by morally ambiguous people doing morally ambiguous things.
You are injected into the story as an outsider and are slowly introduced to the different factions and their ideals. The story is all about engaging with these factions and not outright hating them. You learn why Caesar is so evil and how shady the NCR actually is.
It's a melting pot of deranged and corrupt people all fighting for themselves and their own selfish desires. It's up to you to decide who is the worthiest or go out of your way to condemn them all and destroy them. It's engaging because the main focus of the story is your involvement in it. It's basic story-telling, but it's basic story-telling done well.
