Fallout 4: 10 Biggest WTF Moments From The E3 Demo
7. Board A Vertibird
We've been able to enter a Vertibird a couple of times before in Fallout's history, but it has always been a mere room without a view, a compartment that is about as convincing as the animations for NPCs in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Bethesda seem to have broken their shaky relationship with vehicles in their E3 reveal, with one scene featuring our protagonist throwing down a signal flare next to which a Vertibird lands allowing the player to board and assume the position of a gunner, watching the wasteland fly past them as the Vertibird travels to some unknown location, presumably under the player's orders. While it's no confirmation of controllable vehicles, it's a massive, unexpected step towards players having more travelling options open to them, not to mention a hint at a greater level of interactivity with the world in general. It's still impossible to say whether the Vertibird was acting as some sort of elaborate taxi or if it was a part of some scripted sequence, but it remains one of the most enticing scenes of Bethesda's E3 showcase, if only for the suggestion of bigger ideas yet to be revealed.
