One of the slickest game features ever invented and implemented, Bethesda's way of letting you pause the game to instantly connote that older RPG idea of analysing your enemies and planning your moves whilst also twinning it with first-person combat was a masterstroke. The problem though, was that it never felt as seamless as it should've done. Being just a button away, most of the time due to some occasional programming hiccups you'd prod it only to wait a few of seconds before it would activate. Along with the general refinement that comes with every generational leap, we'd love to see Fallout take a page out of Mass Effect's book and let us issue commands to any followers, alongside use healing items and others all whilst in the VATS view.
