As Bethesda cut their teeth on PC architecture, every console game until Skyrim felt like some awkwardly-mapped port, never really having the ease of accessibility that would come if it was targeted for consoles from the get-go. Now before the wave of angry PC-devotees light their torches and sharpen their pitchforks, we're well aware Bethesda will be prioritising the PC version of Fallout 4, but at the same time you can't deny the ease of access that comes with things like radial menus, neat HUD elements that highlight weapon stats and so on. New Vegas proved as much with its Companion Wheel - it just needs to be applied smartly to everything else. Sure Fallout should remain gritty and unforgiving, but having to awkwardly map a selection of weapons to some 'hot keys' and then just having to remember which is which when out in the field was cumbersome at best. Factor in the fairly awkward and sparse Pip-Boy menus when using different layers of the map and bartering with a huge amount of returned loot, and it's easily in bad need of fixing up.
