Fallout 4: 10 Essential Features It Must Have

6. Named Weapons

For some reason when Bethesda took over for Fallout 3 they ditched all the real-world gun names that had been lovingly programmed into the first two games. Why? We've no idea, but we'll tell you it's far more satisfying to thumb through and get your hands on something like a Desert Eagle than it is to have scores of entries listed as '10mm Pistol' or 'Hunting Rifle'. Call us crazy. It seems strange to keep the real-world cities and landmarks but yet do away with named firearms, even if you could make the point that in the Wastes people just refer to each gun by its most base properties. When weapons are given names like the 'Fat Man' or 'Ol' Painless', it gives a quintessential level of character and flavour to the surrounding world that helps elevate the Fallout lore above the rest.
