Fallout 4: 10 Fan-Favourite Characters That Could Return
2. Dogmeat
As far as companions in the Fallout series go, Dogmeat is an absolute stalwart. Though the literal companion is represented by a separate canine friend in Fallout and Fallout 3, the character is essentially the same loyal, reliable pooch that players of the series have loved. While his appearance in Fallout 2 was limited to just one encounter, his legacy still stands as being one of Fallout's greatest companions. The beauty of a character like Dogmeat is in the simplicity; Fallout and Fallout 3 have proved that he doesn't have to just be the same dog. He represents the importance of having someone with whom unconditional loyalty can be shared in a time where any sort of allegiance can be a fraught one. Dogmeat has no ulterior motives, no hidden dark side and virtually no demands upon the player. While many an meme has been formed over his unfortunate tendency to get overwhelmed in combat by even low level enemies, there's no denying the importance of having a companion like Dogmeat available to players in the next Fallout game. While the dog itself will likely take on a slightly altered physical form for the next instalment, the character's reputation will certainly not change.
