Fallout 4: 10 Fan-Favourite Characters That Could Return
8. Desmond Lockheart
As one of the series' more forthcoming Ghoul characters, Desmond is remarkably memorable. Don't be fooled by the smooth British accent, however, as most of the players' interactions with the character reveal him to be incredibly impatient and rude. His opinion of the player character even serves to undercut the player's importance, as he explains his pleasure at having a pawn to help him in the struggle to gain an upper hand over his rival; Calvert. Desmond's treatment of the player helps Bethesda break away from putting the player in an overly important, omnipotent role within the future of the wasteland. While players obviously make up the centre of the Fallout universe and have the choices and quests that lead the wasteland in one direction or another, Desmond doesn't get caught up in this and manages to maintain his own agenda even in the face of the series' most important character; you. Desmond serves as a reminder of how well crafted Bethesda's wasteland is. Their world is full of characters all looking to not only survive, but to thrive and grow at all costs. Not content with simply aiding or opposing players in the Point Lookout expansion, Desmond seeks to use them to his own advantage. This is folly on his part, as his fate ultimately falls into the player's hands - but you have to applaud the guy's ambition in a world inhabited by a myriad of characters looking to bend the wasteland to their will.
