Fallout 4: 10 Killer E3 Announcements Besthesda Need To Make
2. A More Rewarding Levelling System
The levelling system that was used for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas made picking your skills and perks an instantly gratifying experience. It worked well enough, and was by no means awful, but it didnt reward gamers based on how they played, but rather through the choices they made. You could go through the entire game playing as a sledgehammer-wielding psychopath, and yet you could end up with a character that was actually an adept assassin or a skilled diplomat. It would be awesome to see Bethesda announce the adoption of a levelling system more similar to the one employed in Skyrim, whereby skills are increased based on the play-style of the gamer. This would certainly add to the immersive qualities of the game, but moreover it would greatly enhance the role-playing elements of whatever new engine they implement. Furthermore, the system used in Skyrim ensured that the choices that you made when levelling up were actually important, where in Fallouts system the allocation of points felt almost arbitrary.
