Fallout 4: 10 Majorly Overlooked Features That Will Be Amazing
4. These Insanely Brutal Melee Animations
Did anyone out there ever really feel comfortable using melee weapons in Fallout? At most you'd switch to one for the sake of saving ammo against a horde of Radroaches, but ultimately it could feel more like you were tackling the apocalypse with an overgrown matchstick than a baseball bat. Cut to Fallout 4 and Bethesda have finally amended everything about the way these hits connect, making them far meatier and more engaging - potentially more enjoyable to pull off than literally sticking to your guns. Some of the best shooters give you free reign to alternate between guns and fists already, and as seen in the latest Mad Max game (the nearest comparison aesthetically and tonally), slamming home a haymaker in a world of apocalyptic destitute and grime just feels incredible - not to mention truly establishing the new combat engine as a marked step up from what's gone before.
