Fallout 4: 10 Simple Fixes That Would Improve Everything

6. Unique Locations

Roaming the wastes of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas could quickly become a drab and repetitious experience, with the same colours and textures appearing in every locale and few visual treats to draw in curious gamers. To an extent, the apocalypse should probably be a bit dreary and dismal, but did every settlement, fuel station and shack have to be so utterly identical? Fallout 4 would be a much-improved title if Bethesda would invest in some unique locations, with their own idiosyncratic quirks, design inconsistencies and tailor-made textures. Stumbling upon locations like Little Lamplight, Rivet City, Red Rock Canyon and Jacobstown was special because of how distinctive they each felt. Frustratingly however, these locations were agonisingly sparse and more often than not the player would run into the same textures and colours somewhere else in their playthrough. More unique locations, fewer recycled textures, a more vibrant colour palette: it's not much to ask for, and yet the reward would be tremendous.
