Fallout 4: 10 Things It Did Better Than EVERY Other RPG

9. Insanely Detailed Crafting System

Fallout 4 character

Previous Fallout games have had crafting mechanics, but they were quite basic.

Fallout 3 allowed you to make a few custom weapons if you had the schematics and New Vegas allowed you to create ammo and put attachments on guns. These were all welcome additions, but crafting in Fallout 4 was a big jump up.

As you travelled around post-apocalyptic America you can pick up and buy any number of junk items, but what use are these? Well, break that fan down into metal and screws and you can build a silencer for the pistol you just picked up.

Any attachment or mod is at your fingertips. Want to turn that machine gun into a sniper? Equip a solid stock and scope.

Want to do more damage with that baseball bat? Why not strap a few saw blades to it? Want your leather armour to hold more? Just stitch a few pockets on, and so on.

The combinations you can make are so numerous you will be constantly tinkering with your weapons and armour. This is a great way to add customisation to a game that many other series drop the ball on.
